SUMMARY:Frontiers of Science: Dr. Evangelia Petsalaki
DESCRIPTION:5th March at 12:00\nOnsite event\nin Presidentti auditorium\, B
 ioCity\nSpring 2026 program\n\nDr. Evangelia Petsalaki\, EMBL-EBI\, UK\nNe
 twork-based approaches for studying context-specific signalling\n\nHost: T
omi Suomi (tomi.suomi@utu.fi)\n\nCoffee and sandwich served at 11:45\, fir
st come first serve!\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSix PhD researchers and early-career po
stdocs are welcome to have a lunch and discuss with Dr. Petsalaki after th
e seminar. This is a great possibility to learn hosting skills in a friend
ly environment and create connections for future. Everyone is welcome to j
oin\, BioCity Turku will offer the lunch.\n\nIf you got interested\, pleas
e send an email to biocityturku@bioscience.fi\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nEvangelia Pets
alaki's research group studies human cell signalling in healthy and diseas
e conditions. The group uses interdisciplinary approaches\, including data
-driven network inference\, modelling of cell processes and data integrati
on\, to understand how different environmental or genetic conditions affec
t cell signalling responses leading to diverse cell phenotypes. Their long
-term aim is to create whole-cell signalling models\, to better understand
cell functions and disease. Evangelia has a PhD in structural bioinformat
ics from EMBL and the University of Heidelberg (2009) and did her postdoct
oral work at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute in Toronto\, Canad
 a (2010-2016).\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSelected publications\n\nComprehensive evalua
