SUMMARY:Frontiers of Science: Prof. Vytas Bankaitis
DESCRIPTION:\n\nMay 8th at 12:00\nOnsite event\nin Presidentti auditorium\,
  BioCity\nSpring 2025 program\n\nProf. Vytas Bankaitis\, Texas A&amp\;M Un
iversity\, USA\nLipid-mediated signal transduction: unveiling the role of
PITPs in cellular homeostasis and disease\nHost: Max Lönnfors (max.lonnfo
rs@abo.fi)\n\nCoffee and sandwich at 11:45\, first come first served!\n\n&
nbsp\;\n\nSix PhD researchers and early-career postdocs are welcome to hav
e a lunch and discuss with Prof. Bankaitis after the seminar. This is a gr
eat possibility to learn hosting skills in a friendly environment and crea
te connections for future. Everyone is welcome to join\, BioCity Turku wil
l offer the lunch.\n\nIf you got interested\, please send an email to bioc
 ityturku@bioscience.fi\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe Bankaitis laboratory is intereste
d in the regulatory interfaces between novel lipid-mediated signal transdu
ction pathways and important cellular functions. The focus of their work i
 s the phosphatidylinositol/ phosphatidylcholine transfer proteins (PITPs)\
, a ubiquitous but enigmatic class of proteins. Ongoing projects in the la
boratory derive from a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses biochem
ical characterization of novel members of the metazoan PITP family\, and t
he application of genetic\, molecular and biophysical approaches to detail
ed structural and functional analyses of PITPs.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSelected pub
