SUMMARY:Immunology Seminar Series: Osamu Takeuchi
DESCRIPTION:\nImmunology Seminar\nApril 1st  at 14-15 (Finland time)\n\nVi
 rtual event\n\nOsamu Takeuchi\, M.D.\, Ph.D.\, Professor\, Department of M
edical Chemistry\, Graduate School of Medicine\, Kyoto University: “mRNA
Regulation in Immune Responses: The Role of Regnase-1 as a Key Brake in I
mmune Cells.”\n\nRegister for the Immunology Seminar Series email list t

 eys.com/S/D29C32AA6E8A2F7A\n\nHost: Professor Riitta Lahesmaa ( rilahes@ut
u.fi )\n\nImmunology seminar series is jointly organised by the Finnish So
ciety for Immunology\, InFLAMES Flagship and Turku Bioscience. For further
information contact Anne Lahdenperä  ( ankahy@utu.fi ) or Riitta Lahesm
 aa ( rilahes@utu.fi )\, University of Turku.\n\n***\n\nOsamu Takeuchi rece
ived his M.D. from Osaka University Medical School in 1995. After completi
ng clinical training\, he pursued a Ph.D. at Osaka University\, where he s
tudied innate immunity under Prof. Shizuo Akira. During his doctoral resea
rch\, he identified that different Toll-like receptors (TLRs) recognize di
stinct microbial components. He then conducted postdoctoral training at th
e Dana-Farber Cancer Institute under Prof. Stanley Korsmeyer. Following th
is\, he returned to Osaka University as an assistant professor\, where he
investigated the functional roles of TLR signaling molecules and RIG-I-lik
e receptors in infection. In 2012\, he joined the Institute for Frontier L
ife and Medical Sciences at Kyoto University as a full professor\, later m
oving to the Graduate School of Medicine at Kyoto University in 2018. His
current research focuses on RNA regulation in immune and inflammatory resp
onses\, with a particular emphasis on the role of Regnase-1\, an RNase cru
 cial for cytokine mRNA degradation.\n\n
