SUMMARY:The Sugarscience Th1nk Tank: Robert Moulder
DESCRIPTION:Tue Apr 15\, 2025 at 19.00-19.45 Finland time (12pm - 12:45 pm
EDT)\n\nOnline event\n\nDr. Robert Moulder\, University of Turku: Targeted
serum proteomics of longitudinal samples from newly diagnosed youth with
type 1 diabetes affirms markers of disease\n\nJoin Zoom Meeting https://us
02web.zoom.us/j/89411895420\n\nRobert Moulder is a Senior Scientist at Tur
ku Bioscience\, a research centre jointly supported by the University of T
urku and Åbo Akademi University in Turku\, Finland.\n\nHe primarily focus
es on mass spectrometry-based proteomics research related to type 1 diabet
es and the characterization of T helper cell subtypes. He is first author o
n the recent Diabetologia paper: Targeted serum proteomics of longitudinal
samples from newly diagnosed youth with type 1 diabetes distinguishes mar
kers of disease and C-peptide trajectory\n\nRECENT PAPER:  https://pubmed
 .ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37537394/&lt\;https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2
 Fpubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov%2F37537394%2F&amp\;sa=D&amp\;ust=1744120380000000
&amp\;usg=AOvVaw1cyd4GAR4KxBMeITmhPJBh\n\nRESULTS from this paper : Eleven
proteins had statistically significant associations with fasting C-peptid
 e/glucose. Of these\, apolipoprotein L1 and glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPX3
) displayed the strongest positive and inverse associations\, respectively
. Changes in GPX3 levels during the first year after diagnosis indicated f
uture fasting C-peptide/glucose levels. In addition\, differences in the l
evels of 13 proteins were observed between the individuals with type 1 dia
betes and the matched UFMs. These included GPX3\, transthyretin\, prothrom
bin\, apolipoprotein C1 and members of the IGF family.
