    BD LSR Fortessa analyzers


    BD LSRFortessas (two optically identical instruments) are equipped with four lasers (405nm, 488nm, 561nm, 640nm). It can be used to detect up to 17 fluorescent parameters. In addition to the BD™ High Throughput sampler, single tube acquisition is also possible.

    High Throughput Sampler
    The BD™ High Throughput sampler (HTS plate loader) provides fully automated and rapid sample
    aspiration. It supports standard 96-well U-, V-, and flat–bottom plates. The standard throughput mode allows for acquisition of
    larger sample volumes. All sampler functions are operated through BD FACSDiVa software,
    allowing the user to create customized delivery protocols with user-defined mixing, wash, and
    analysis parameters. Single tube acquisition is also possible.

    BD LSR II analyzer


    The BD LSR II is equipped with three lasers (405, 488 and 635 nm) and can handle advanced multi-color applications. Up to eight different fluorescent probes can be measured simultaneously. In addition, the advanced flow system allows high speed sample runs. This instrument is used for many applications including FRET measurements.

    The list below shows all the available bandpass filters. If you have a fluorochrome which needs a non-default filter, please contact flow(at)btk.fi.

    Cell sorters

    Sony SH800 Cell Sorter


    The benchtop SH800S cell sorter permits sorting of a wide range of cell sizes for many applications using the 70μm, 100μm, and 130μm microfluidic sorting chips. This novel, chip-based design is fully integrated with comprehensive fluidics controls and advanced automation for set-up, acquisition, sort and analysis to make sorting less subjective, more precise and easier to perform.

    The instrument has 4 laser lines. 6 colors + FSC and BSC (SSC) can be detected simultaneously. The use of co-linear lasers provides flexibility with fluorochrome selection.

    The sorter is placed in a biosafety level 2 cabinet which allows e.g. sorting of primary cells.

    BD FACSAria Cell Sorter

    Unlike other flow cytometers, the BD FACSAria cell sorter is generally operator-driven. Please contact flow (at) btk.fi in order to arrange a sorting session. The operator will advice you about sample preparation and executes the actual sorting.

    The cells can be sorted into the tubes or to a well plate. When sorting to tubes, up to 4 populations can be isolated simultaneously. Well plate sorting is excellent tool for single cell sorting.
