Single-cell Omics Facility receives funding for spatial transcriptomics instrumentation
Biocenter Finland’s Single-cell Omics platform has received funding from Academy of Finland’s FIRI2019 call to acquire instrumentation for spatial transcriptomic profiling. Platform nodes in Turku and Helsinki received equal funding for establishing spatial transcriptomics services.
This new technology will allow highly multiplexed detection of transcripts and proteins in morphological context. The analysis can be performed at down to 10 um resolution, enabling extremely detailed exploration of complex tissues, including formalin fixed paraffin embedded samples. The system complements the existing single-cell RNA-sequencing and mass cytometry pipelines at TBC, together providing a robust toolkit for single-cell analysis.
