Karoliina Hirvonen recently completed her Ph.D. at the Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University in Finland, focusing on proteomics patterns of type 1 diabetes risk and progression. Using mass spectrometry-based proteomics, she has studied temporal changes in plasma and serum from children with a HLA-conferred risk of type 1 diabetes and newly diagnosed individuals.
