Speaker: Karoliina Hirvonen, PhD, Turku Bioscience Centre, Lahesmaa Lab
Bio: Karoliina Hirvonen recently completed her Ph.D. at the Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University in Finland, focusing on proteomics patterns of type 1 diabetes risk and progression. Using mass spectrometry-based proteomics, she has studied temporal changes in plasma and serum from children with a HLA-conferred risk of type 1 diabetes and newly diagnosed individuals.
In her continued research in this field, she employs state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and sample preparation technologies to explore new aspects of the disease and its etiology
