Maria Sibilia is a molecular biologist and has been head of the Institute of Cancer Research at the Medical University of Vienna since 2010. Her research focuses on how the immune system interacts with and influences tumor cells. A better understanding of the basic mechanisms involved in cancer development will enable more precise use of standard drug therapies. The aim of her research group is to develop cancer into a chronic disease in the long term.
