This course is a hands-on, beginner-friendly course covering the core single-cell RNA-seq analysis workflow, designed for researchers who are new to scRNA-seq data analysis. Participants watch pre-recorded lectures before attending, so that classroom time is used for exercises, discussion, and guided analysis. In addition to the core workflow, the course includes manual cell type annotation and an introduction to available bioinformatics computing resources. No prior knowledge of Unix, R, or Python is required. Hands-on exercises use a graphical, user-friendly analysis platform and the analysis platform remains available for your own data after the course. Study points are awarded upon completion.
Course topics
Quality control and filtering
Normalisation and variable gene selection
Dimensionality reduction (PCA)
Clustering and UMAP visualization
Marker gene identification
Automated cell type annotation (SingleR)
Manual cell type annotation
